A guide for first time supercoachers.
NBL SUPERCOACH BASICS & KEY POINTS
Select a team to score ‘SuperCoach points’ based on their on-court performances.
A coach’s starting five will earn full points for their on-court performances, will bench players will contribute 50% of their total points for the coach’s overall round score.
‘Captains’ of a side will have their score doubled.
‘Vice captains’ can be used when a ‘Captain’ does not play.
‘Trade boosts’ can be used to make more than two changes in a round to a team.
BUILDING YOUR TEAM
SuperCoaches are allocated a $2m salary cap to build a team consisting of 10 players. Four guards, four forwards and two centres.
Building your team at the start of the season requires a combination of ‘gun’ players with high point-scoring ability and ‘cash cows’ to improve squad value.
‘Cash cows’ are players who perform better than their initial valuation, increasing their own value and giving coaches the option to ‘trade up’ for better performing players.
Throughout the 20 round season, coaches will have a total of 42 trades to improve their side as their squad value increases.
As some teams will play two games in one round, coaches should consider having more players in their squad for that round (e.g. United, Phoenix & 36ers play two games in round one).
